Description
According to Wikipedia and other sources, ospreys are also called sea hawks, river hawks, or fish hawks. They are birds of prey and their wings span could reach about 180cm. At the beaches, they fly over the water scanning for fish and then would plunge into the water to snatch the fish. Other times, they can be found sitting on top of a tree or a power pole or a roof top quietly for a long time. They have brown back and wings and white under parts with a strongly hooked black beak. Their talons look like strong iron hooks that are excellent for clutching their catch when flying. The photo was taken at Naples Pier, FL.
