Pelicans are large water birds with a long beak, a large throat pouch, and a big wingspan. It is fun to watch them playing or catching fish at beaches. They like to hang out near fishermen for fish or stand on a rail for tourists to take photos. But most often they are seen flying around scanning for fish and then plunge into the water. This pelican is just taking a nap at Sanibel Beach, FL.
