Description
Kasuga Taisha is a celebrated shrine in Nara, Japan and famous for its hundreds of bronze lanterns donated by worshipers. This photo was taken during my two weeks’ trip to Japan in October, 2019. The photo shows the unique architectural features: the different paint colors of the building and the lanterns, and the different shapes and height of the concrete walkways on both sides. Even the drainage coverings in the middle are purposely rigged. But the long lines of the roofs, the lanterns, the beams, the columns, and walk ways, all extend straight to the far end, creating a sense of peaceful harmony in disharmony.
