Description
Otters are carnivorous animals with bodies range from 2 to 6 feet in length and 2 to 99 lb in weight. Some otters are semi semiaquatic, some are aquatic, and others are marine. The most striking feature is their webbed feet. The photo was taken in Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve in Fort Myers, FL on 12/2/2018. Normally otters are in hiding places. On that day we were walking along the board walk toward Otter Pond and suddenly there was a loud water splash sound right near where we were. The giant otter just caught a fish and came to rest against the log and started to eat the fish. Its webbed forefeet were holding the fish just like what we would do and its forehead had water plants neatly wrapped around like a wreath.
