Description
The bridge, nicked named Nijūbashi, is the main bridge to the Imperial Palace in Tokyo, Japan. It is arguably the most famous bridge in Japan. The one in the front is the stone bridge and the one at the back is the iron bridge. The stone bridge is the main entrance to the palace and was built in 1614 and rebuilt in 1964 (this is the case with many Japanese attractions which have been rebuilt over and over for various reasons). The Palace is open only on a couple of holidays and the bridges are not open either. Tourists can only view them in front of the stone bridge. On October 6, 2019 we toured the exteriors of this Imperial Palace. It was right after rain and the sky cloudy but still there were quite a group of tourists standing right along the iron rail near the grass area taking photos. I took many pictures to find a good angle to include a corner of the Palace on one side and a white castle on the other side in the background and both bridges in the center. However, both bridges are at the same height and the bridge at the back was all hidden on all my pictures; to reveal both bridges, I had to stand back quite a distance but then all the tourists would be in the photo. So we waited and waited until the tourists had all left to take this picture. It seems that the gloomy weather adds some historical and imperial atmosphere to the photo.
