Artist's Description
Willets are common shore birds that frequent Southwest Florida beaches. They have long legs and straight bill. The bird is very ordinary looking but the young birds used to be hunted for food and by 1900, willets almost vanished north of Virginia. The Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918 banned hunting and marketing of the bird and started the come back of willets, according to Google source.

Having lived in Florida for many years, I came to know so many beautiful birds, their colorful feathers, striking shapes, and numerous species. I am always captivated by the sight of them. Florida flowers are equally amazing and year round. And sunset on the Gulf Coast is spectacular. I want to capture the beauty nature presents us.
